Warmups: What, Why, and How
Saturday June 13, 2026 8:30am - 9:30am PDT
Ever wonder why rehearsals start with a warm up? What's the point?  What's the meaning of life?

Okay, maybe we won't be able to answer the third one, but come dive in to a discussion on why the warmups can and should be the best part of your chorus or quartet rehearsal.

We'll chat about elements of a warm up, how to execute them with purpose, and why each part is important. A good warmup can help solve problems before they start, achieve your rehearsal goals, make you feel and sing better for the whole rehearsal, and help you achieve long-term goals.

And if you are already part of your rehearsal team, come exchange ideas to help refresh your warmups and make them even more fun and engaging.

You don't need experience. You don't need a "perfect" voice. You just need to show up! Together, we'll explore the joy of harmony, the thrill of blending voices into something bigger than any one of us, and the quiet magic that happens when a group of people make music as one.

We'll learn. We'll laugh. We'll occasionally hit the wrong note — and laugh some more. Along the way, you'll discover your voice, build real friendships, and have some fun!

No auditions. No prerequisites. Just an open heart and a willingness to try. Your voice belongs here. Come find out what it can do!

This chorus will perform on the Saturday night show - make sure you sign up for all 4 rehearsals!

Vocal Physiology and Myth-busting, Part 1
Saturday June 13, 2026 9:45am - 10:45am PDT
What’s actually happening inside your body when you sing? Come learn about what's under the hood of your onboard instrument. We'll cover the basic anatomy and function of the instrument: how the air in your lungs is transformed by your vocal folds and vocal tract into pressure waves with the unique timbre of your voice.  We'll address several common singing myths and help you translate phrases like "sing from the diaphragm" and "sing more forward" into actionable effective targets.

This will be an interactive class, so come ready to sing and ask questions!

What other tools can we use to add inflection to important words? Who Am I Duetting With?
Saturday June 13, 2026 3:45pm - 4:45pm PDT
One of the defining elements of barbershop harmony is active duetting—the way voices interact to create flow, contrast, and energy. It’s also one of the least-used skills. In this hands-on quartet lab, you’ll learn what active duetting really is, why it works, and how to use it immediately in your own singing. All levels welcome. There WILL be singing—bring your favorite chart, if you dare.
