AW101: The Less Experienced & Beginner Group will focus on introducing/reviewing the basic principles of Music Theory & Barbershop Harmony and how they apply to arranging a song in the Barbershop Style. Participants may or may not have education/experience in other musical styles and may or may not have been to a Barbershop arranging class before or worked on arranging a song/s in the Barbershop Style. Songs that are appropriate for Barbershop (BBS) will be used to illustrate throughout.

Zach Groeblinghoff is a native of O’Fallon, Missouri (near St. Louis). He has studied under the baton of Dr. Brad Holmes at Millikin University and received his B.A. in Music Education, Vocal Emphasis in 2013.

Dr. Don Campbell and Rich Lapp are working together to offer a one-of-a-kind workshop for directors and assistant directors, of all levels, from around the Northwest. In addition to the workshop, Don and Rich will be teaching classes and providing director coaching classes which are listed in SCHED.

SCHEDULE OVERVIEW:

1-2:30pm - Introductions, open discussion
2:30-5pm - Scheduled small group rotations: directing classes with Don & rehearsal techniques with Rich
5-6:30 Dinner
6:30-9pm - Evening session together
